International Active Self Defense  Association profile

The "Touch" idea was established in 2006 as an extension and expansion of the center that was established in 1985 in the town of Lod, located between Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem.

"Touch" is run by Mr. Gaby  Michaeli, born in 1963. Served in the IDF in the course for soldiers and combatants serving in special units. In his civilian capacity, Mr. Michaeli is a senior trainer in karate and martial arts Dan-6 international. He serves as coordinator of instructors in hand to hand combat (Krav  Maga) at the sports center of the Tel-Aviv University and college "Seminar Hakibutzim" . He trains the Israeli national team in karate.

Mr. Michaeli is a graduate of the physical education program at Wingate Institute. He is an expert in unarmed combat and shooting instruction. Gaby's fields of expertise and occupation are instruction, training, establishing security units and consultation pertaining to developing instruction and security systems.

Mr. Michaeli is highly appreciated in Israel for his long term experience of more than 20 years, both in the army and as a civilian, establishing improved, modern, updated combat methods (both armed and unarmed), which combine hand to hand combat krav  maga ' karate, judo, shooting for self defense, procedures and tactical warfare methods.

The target recipients of Mr. Michaeli’s field of expertise are security personnel, bodyguards, Special Forces, police and civilians (both youngsters and adults). The Practical System for self-defense in an emergency meets the personal needs of each sector according to his line of occupation.

The principle and essence of "Touch":

According to research, debriefings and reactions of security personnel and civilians involved in violent incidents and terrorist acts, it is evident that the initial reaction of a person is an instinctive reflex. His skill is the second back-up line, when caught by surprise. Therefore, "Touch" is primarily adapted to the basic, natural reaction- the instinctive reflex of a person, combined with a simple technique of performance in the shortest time span and the smallest space available. There are no artistic movements in this method, but rather target oriented skills, focused and aggressive, intended for self-defense in an emergency situation.

In recent years we are witnessing a growing awareness toward self-defense that is not meant to become a vocation (such as karate, ranks etc.), but short time training aimed at actualizing the ability of self-defense. There has been a sharp increase in the severity of physical violence among the population aged 14-38. "Touch" provides a means against physical violence of both youngsters and adults by enabling the attacked to have the upper hand and neutralize the attacker using cold weapons such as a stick, a knife or a club and attacking using weapons such as pistols.

"Touch" is based on 3 main components:

1.    Adaptation of instinctive supportive skills (defense and attack techniques) for self -
  defense adjusted to personal needs.

2    Physical training:
  a. Developing reaction and aggression.
  b. Developing
physical fitness, agility, reaction speed and charging power.
  c. Developing balance and movement in the surrounding environment.

3.   Mental training:
  self-confidence, awareness and readiness.

The "Touch" method takes into account the level of the trainee and the training is in accordance to the level of ability.

The "Touch" method provides an adequate response for innocent civilians, various security personnel trapped in moving vehicles such as buses, trains, plains etc. or open areas such as streets.

The "Touch"  method is always open to changes and updates resulting from debriefings of hundreds of incidents that occurred, pertaining to criminal, national, terrorist, economical or religious issues. Behavior and procedures have been changed according to updated demands as well as reactions of self-defense in an emergency.
